Description
Locomotive Magazine Doncaster built rolling stock, Great Northern Railway 1910, cord-bound card covers, 11”x 8.25”. pp.12. Coloured pc of Stirling single pasted on cover. Each page has a high quality b&w photogravure print, 9”x 6”, of an item of rolling stock, built at the Doncaster “Plant”. These range from H.A. Ivatt’s latest Atlantic, through freight and tank locomotives, to a steam railmotor and the Royal Saloon. Of special interest is a 40ton well-wagon, carrying one of Patrick Stirling’s singles, which weighed in at 42 tons. This wagon is believed to be the first item of rolling stock designed by H.N. Gresley after joining the GNR as Carriage and Wagon Supt.
A high class publication for the time.
