LOCOMOTIVES OF THE CAMBRIAN, BARRY AND RHYMNEY RAILWAYS. By M. C. V. Allchin, self published 1943 [ebook]

Thin card covered booklet, 8.5”x5.5”,pp. 12. Tipped in coloured frontis piece, probably from Railway Magazine, Cambrian Railways 4-4-0 express locomotive No. 81.

A useful little book giving original numbers, works numbers year of building and GWR number after Grouping. It should be remembered that some of the older locomotives taken over did not survive long enough to carry GWR plates, and many of the survivors were “Swindonised” out of all recognition, on their first heavy repair.

It is a remarkable achievement for Mr. Allchin to have written and published this at the height of the Second World War.
