We will never know who Elsie Thompson was but she was obviously a thrifty person because when she returned from her Highland holiday she carefully put her Gilchrist’s map away for possible future use.  It has survived the waste paper drives of two world wars and innumerable spring cleanings to become a very attractive survival of the high summer of Edwardian Highland Tourism .
