Description
Full history of the site up to 1982. What is not covered is the work carried out there by former Waring and Gillow craftsmen on the restoration of Pullman cars for the English section of the Venice – Simplon Orient Express, and the extraordinary replica of a Dean Bogie Single by Flying Scotsman Enterprises for a sadly now closed Madam Tussaud´´s Exhibition at Windsor station.
Sadly, Steamtown itself is no longer open to the public, having closed for business reasons in 197, but it remains a centre for the restoration of locos and rolling stock used on mainline steam and diesel hauled special trains.
