Description

Considering that this book was published nearly 80 years ago it contains an astonishing amount of information. It includes a brief history of the L and Y, the works at Miles Platting and Horwich (including loco works numbers, years of building and withdrawal) and the company’s ships and shipping services on west and east coasts. All classes of locos (including those from absorbed railways) are dealt with including those built at Crewe by the LNWR.

Most ranging from the little Pug Dock shunters through the elegant High Flyers and Dreadnoughts, to the massive Baltic tank are illustrated by attractive drawings, the steam railmotors and Liverpool – Southport electric trains are also covered.
