Description

Marsh had to retire early under something of a cloud at the end of 1911, so there is no locomotive by Lawson Billinton, who took over at about the time this souvenir was published. Nevertheless this is a good representative selection of LBSCR motive power in the years leading up to the Great War. All passenger locomotives are shown in the “dark umber” livery which Marsh had to introduce as an economy measure, replacing the elaborate Stroudley yellow.  The freight engines if not depicted in photographic grey are in lined black.
