Description

Published to mark the 300th anniversary of the Howland Great Wet Dock, 1699/1999, and the 30th anniversary of the Surrey C ommercia Docks Closing in 1970. This booklet outlines the history of the SurreyCommercial Docks system from 1699, through the private company era, ownership by The Port of London Authority, devastation in wartime, rebuilding, closure in 1970, and the start of redevelopment under the much maligned London Docklands Development . Despite being written 17 years ago, it remains the only published work dealing exclusively with “The Surreys” so it appears worth while continuing to makeit available.
